Before I could close into the cloud, the plane
came out. It was upside down and firing at me. I could see that the 7.7mm
machine guns were blinking rapidly and the 20mm cannon were doing so more slowly, but I
didn't see any tracer passing me ... If I'd have pulled up and over the Zero, the pilot
would have had a shot at my belly. And, if I'd have tried to dive away from him,
he'd have been able to execute a split-S and get on my tail.
