After reading some more, i finally decided to extract a .par file and take a look at some of the sm files. I used opstudio to export a lod and then imported it into max. Well the object was SO tiny I couldn't even get in close enough in perspective view. I tried changing the grid size and everything else but no luck. Anyone have any clue why the object is so incredibly tiny in max?

I found the problem shortly thereafter, it was when I was importing, the vertex scale was at .001, whoops, that'll teach me to pay attention.

I will say I played around with AC3D shareware and I'm starting to think that program would be easier to use for this than Max is, which really sucks because I'm not sure I want to shell out 40 bucks for a program i'll never use again besides making a plane or two.
