When the prop is spinning, what determines how many "apparent" blades it has?

i.e. the Corsair prop, even though I've changed all the .lods to have only 3 blades, and changed the PROP-erties to 3-blades, but it still looks like it has 4 when it's in motion, or as it slows down on engine shutdown, or especially in screenshots.

Conversely, the Spit IXe appears, inflight, to have only 3 blades, yet has 4 when the prop stops. So what gives here? Which thing is determining how many "blurry blades" to depict on a moving prop?

jedi,

if you want three blades on your spinning prop...go into your Typh/aicraft/textures and grap the file TYPHPROPFAST..this has the alpha transparent channel that gives it the appearance of spinning fast.

Take this file and use it to texture map over the FastProp (or propfast - i forget) that you are using for the corsair. Import this lod back into OPS and you will have your 3 sided prop.

Hehe well I'da never thought of that one! A texture, eh? OK, I can do that! That explains why my spinning prop has RED tips while the stationary one has YELLOW tips I guess too...

Thanks!
