I was thinking it would be cool to set up a DOF on the pilot, and if he gets killed, run the DOFosc, causing him to slump forward. Would the following work:

when the polygon reaches full damage:
(obExec (Name 'pilot Func 'Dead)

the pilot model has:
(obFunc (Dead (DofOsc (OscName 'GunnerSlump cmdRun))))

and:
(dofID 'GunnerSlump dofOsc (oscName 'GunnerSlump oscRuntime 1.75 oscParent 'SE5a oscCmd 'cmdSlump 'cmdRunReverse)

Is it even possible to run a DOFosc without using a key command?

thanks,
charm

I don't think you can run a DOF osc via a function call, but it merits a try!

Why not just make a "deadPilot" object, have that object be "obHidden" until the pilot gets hit, and then have the pilot get "obHidden" and "unHide" the "deadPilot?"

I'm thinking we could build a torpedo this way that actually runs along the top of the water, but is "obHidden" and replaced by a flat "wake" object that follows the path until it hits the target.

But of course I have no idea how to attach this torpedo "vehicle" to a plane, or how to make a vehicle explode like a torpedo and cause torpedo damage.

But if the Mistel in the contest works, I bet it will open up some new weapons possibilities. The Dam Buster bomb springs to mind...
