I guess the title covers it.

I can get the terrain to show up if I manually edit a MIS file., but haven't been able to get the mission editor tp select it

Thanks,

Bryan

I'm afraid I can't answer your question, but does this mean you've got that massive piece of Europe into the game? The one you've been posting pictures of?

Not really. I finished the SM File creation part last night and only had time to give it a quick test before bed time. SDOE loaded it ok, but unfortunitly the file didn't have any references to the LODs (DOH!) so I ended up in void land Interesting thing is that when the planes hit 0 altitude they spontainiously exploded, so I guess poodles below sea level netherlands terrain might have to wait for a fix from MH (unless its different when actual polygons are there.

The size is only 10k x 10k at the moment becuase I want to make sure that anything that goes wrong is my fault, but this can easily be made as big as you want by changing a couple of numbers (SDOE permitting).

I will probably go for a 500k x 500k since SM files size/memory usage gets a tad big quickly as you increase the area. 500k x 500k is about the area represented by the current dover terrain, except full scale. Its about 10x as big length and width wise and 100x as big area wise.

I'll give the 2M km^2 (1500x1500) a go but I'm pretty certain it will cause a meltdown. The 500x500 probably will as well, but its not that much effort from now to check it.

Hi Bryan

Take a look at the "Island" par file or the "Rhineland winter" Zoy made. I think you will get the hint very fast...unfortunatly I can't look into it (I cant unpar here at my office).

C-ya!

What you need to do is create a mini-terrain .sm file which you then place in the media/missionseditor/ folder

If you unpar the FS terrain you'll find maps in there for each of the terrain databases.

Thanks Michael,

I also found that I needed to add an entry for the new terrain in "Media/missionseditor/MissionEditor.ppf"
and a string in the "media/StringTable.ppf" file.
