I found a nice homepage w/ alotta italian planes, so I'm wondering if it's possible to open/edit the 3d files and then import them w/ OPSlil b IP: Logged |

Check out this program: http://prettypoly.sourceforge.net/index.php3?section=home It can read .mdl files and AC3D files. I haven't played with it much tho.jgro IP: Logged |

merçi Pachy, I tried with 3D Explorator, it's a .mdl file, but the program says that the file is corrupted or and/or uncompatible. Btw I sent an e-mail to the creators of the models asking them to provide me a new copy of the files... Jgro thanks, I'm downloading it now, maybe it will work.lil b IP: Logged |

3D explorer's MDL formats are those for Quake, and I think, on the later versions, Half-life too. The CFS MDL format is different, and the two are not compatable. I would guess the CFS formats hold a lot more animation data, though I don't know for sure.

there is an MDL2DXF utility (two of them actually, version 2 and version 3). If 2 doesnt work, 3 may (or the other way around...). I have the files at home, so you can send me the models to convert, or I can send you the utilities.. The scaling is much different that what is used in SDOE however.... By several thousand to 1 if I remember correctly... Either way, email me...IP: Logged |

I'm pretty sure that the mdl2dxf files won't work on FS2000/cfs2 aircraft that are already multi-res.They work somewhat on earlier cfs1 aircraft. On the other hand, Sdoe aircraft are pretty easy to put into Cfs2 using Hippie's tools, Ac3d and Fsds. If anyone's interested, there is a free 3d modeler at this PC plus magazine site called Truespace 1.0. It says it's full version. http://www.pcplus.co.uk/article.asp?id=8556 I tried loading dxf files I had converted into Truespace using mdl2dxf and it worked. I haven't tried it any further cause Ac3d can do it too. regards, dauntless aka Billis [This message has been edited by dauntless851 (edited 01-05-2002).] IP: Logged |
