Copy the ol tools (olc.exe, smd.exe, smd.c, olc.c and cygwin1.dll) to an empty folder. Next place your .sm file in this folder. Open a DOS window and change to this directory that you just put everything into. Type smd xxxx yyyy . xxxx is the name of the .sm file WITHOUT the .sm extension and the yyyy is the new name that you want to call your lods. I usually leave them the same name. This will extract the .sm file into individual lods. To reverse the process type olc yyyy xxxx to recreate the .sm file. Hope this helps.

ps: I have a tutorial on how to speed up this process on my website.

Make sure ki100.sm i8s not read-only, it should be read-write. (I think)

If this is not it, then you have a bad SM file, or at least bad in OL's eyes

Try another SM file to see if it works...

type in cd c:\OL
Then type olc ki100 ki100
It is case sensitive I think. Your problem may be that you have to be in the folder (OL) to get this to work.

Biggles, the problem is that you have to use the change directory command and be IN the same directory everyting you want to mess with is in.

In your example you were operating from the root directory- C:

Follow jgro's example above. If you open the DOS window and it comes up C:\windows> You would need to type the following FIRST:
cd c:\ol
this will change the active directory you are in to the OL directory you created (cd= change directory in DOS). Then you can type in the command
smd ki100 ki100
and it should work. Before you type the command make sure the DOS prompt looks like this
C:\OL>
