I'm working on modifying Royoboy's Ju88G1 which he released as Ju88G7b overwrite, I have made it a seperate plane but in extensive flight testing I am coming across a regular freeze of SDOE when it hits the ground. What should I be looking for as a possible cause ? I am running it in exclusively in the patch.

Most common for this one is referencing an item that no longer exists... (i.e. onDetach unHide partXYZ but partXYZ has been deleted....)

To my it happened to me the same thing with the Lanc B MK II. Perhaps you have some double object with the repeated properties, that was what happened me to my.

Another reason for this to happen, is that a LOD with an illegal vertex is shown. If this is what you've stumbled on, it's a bit difficult to find, since you have to identify the object, the viewing distance and the viewing angle (it's only if the illegal vertex is shown that it crashes, not if it's out of view.)

All good answers, but since it happens when it hits the ground (ie damage occurs, I stick with my first hunch

I had something similar happen with the IlyaV and Dh2. When the plane was totally destroyed, the corrupted lods would cause the game to crash. May want to look into that...

Well went looking for a missing part, all present and correct, will do more testing to see if freeze happens when plane is in view or out of view and then try some more of your suggestions. Cheers .

Ok, pined it down to viewing from the front on impact with ground just as main fuse dissappears, wings and tail are still intact. Ran sm file through Elric's optoolkit and it identifed the following probs with LOD's

LOD 184 : < 3 Vertices in poly 8
LOD 184 : < 3 Vertices in poly 9
LOD 185 : < 3 Vertices in poly 8
LOD 185 : < 3 Vertices in poly 9
LOD 186 : < 3 Vertices in poly 8
LOD 186 : < 3 Vertices in poly 9

My guess is that these may be the problem, but in ops how do I identify LOD's 184,5 & 6 ?

That optoolkit is excellent, identified all unused textures in 20 secs, just cut and paste to doc file and then edit at leisure.
