I keep seeing planes people are having problems with and they used the P-51D to import the LOD's into. also, a lot of times, the P-51 airfoil is used.

As for the airfoil, the P-51 is the ONLY plane that should use this airfoil. The Mustang was designed with a "laminar flow" wing design and as far as I've been able to find out, was the ONLY plane to use one. The shape of this airfoil is VERY different from the other airfoils used in WWII. Try looking around at aircraft that have a similar wing shape and profile and you'll get closer to the real thing.

There are a couple other models I'd recommend using instead of the P-51. For radial engine aircraft, use one of the Fw190 files. For in-line aircraft, try one of the Me-109's (please-don't use the spitfire FMs where all of the parts are assigned actual weights. Tailslide did this after finding the info, and those Spitfire FM's are so model specific, it would take forever to adapt them to another aircraft)

This will make the FM modifications easier for you and anyone else.

he he ... I got bit by the FM bug, and just got a book on 'how planes fly' and it has some good info on the P51....it was designed for minimal drag to give maximum efficiency at high speeds. Low drag, longer range...it's REALLY different.

Lots more reading to do...then I can understand the terminology better!!!!

The Mitsubishi J2M Raiden also has a laminar flow wing.
