I want to reposition where a plane starts on the runway via the airfield properties. But how does one do this?!?!?! Right now the plane starts too far back and I want it more foward when it starts on the runway. Thanks! IP: Logged |

I cant find it right now but, there is a thread that sort of explains it. Whatever you do, DO NOT OPEN UP THE AIRFIELD IN OPS! You will lose the info that makes it all work. Instead, open up the airfield using OL Tools. Look for the coordinates in a section that says something like: do not save this blah blah blah. The starting coordinates are there , just change your info.Of course, I'm not an airfield expert, you definately need to ask the only two people on earth who know...WTG or Rendsberger. Good luck [This message has been edited by Diego Lozano (edited 05-01-2001).] IP: Logged |

Ah... it suffers from the same problems the pilots have when you save them in OPS eh? Well I can get around that. But tell me, I looked at the airfield in OPS (I didnt save it) but I couldnt find the cords... IP: Logged |

ArgonV, you need OL-7 or an higher version to extract an sm file into lods. Open the the LOD file (the one without a number) with an editor. Now search for something like this: [Comment] Note DO NOT CLOSE THIS PROP LIST (obData "airfield9 Runway" ((687.439,2143.75,0 -828.675,-2093.13,0 -687.445,-2143.66,0 828.668,2093.21,0 )obFormation (-754.655,-2139.67,-1.86265e-09 -568.727,-2210.32,-1.86265e-09 -464.607,-2061.58,-1.86265e-09 -401.684,-1898.33,-1.86265e-09 -344.929,-1706.5,-1.86265e-09 -271.806,-1503.93,-1.86265e-09 -202.52,-1306.21,-1.86265e-09 -126.216,-1098.47,-1.86265e-09 -59.2819,-901.383,-1.86265e-09 )# [Translate]ObData are the runwaycoords x,y,z and obFormation are the coords where the planes localised at the beginning of the game (also x,y,z) Rendsburger IP: Logged |

Thanks! Looks difficult to do however... I may have a go at it tho. P.S. What the easiest way to come up with the start on runway coords besides "guess and check" [This message has been edited by ArgonV (edited 05-01-2001).] IP: Logged |

There is a keyboard command that displays xyz coordinates...I cant find it right now. Get in a any drivable vehicle and park it on the spot where you want to start and bada-bing! There are your starting coordinates. One thing that would definately rock, would to be able to have your planes start in a line abreast or in pairs...what do you think, man? IP: Logged |

Hmm... that MIGHT work Diego, but first I got to figure out how to use these damned OL-7 tools correctly. Now how would you propose getting all the aircraft to start line abreast? Are the starting point on airfields defined for every position a plane can take off in if theres X number of planes taking off?IP: Logged |

Diego, now i know what you mean First add follwing line to the sdemons.ini : DisplayCoords=1 Then hit ALT-M in Game and you see the coords below the RADAR. Next thing, yes it sounds possible to place the planes in formation on the runway. Look at the ObData and you find 4 coords.I never worked at this, but it looks like 2x2 start and heading (?) coords,So,this mean that the planes can takeoff from different positions. If you placed the obFormationCoords in a formation behind the start coords,it should work. But ask WTG, he worked much more at this thing then me.
