I've been messing with the Ki-61 FM and I have a mega problem with engine rolling the plane left. The plane is fine and handles great with no power but when you give full throttle it rolls left and is hard to correct.Ideas? ------------------ Tony "Razer" Martin FS Hangar IP: Logged |

Find the "airWash" property on the vertical/horizontal stabs and reduce it. That will decrease the yawing/rolling tendency. If you LIKE the yawing tendency but want to be able to "fight" it better, increase the "airArea" of the vertical stab, or move it's airPT farther aft. Doing either of those will make the plane harder to spin tho, and a certain amount of rolling tendency is probably "realistic". Make sure to check what your tweaking does to the plane's ability to take off also. Messing with these two properties can have a big impact on ground stability A lot of propeller planes must be retrimmed with significant power changes. ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

well that didn't work. Still rolls over way to much.IP: Logged |

Could it be that the weight of the prop is too high, causing excess torque?IP: Logged |

Use a little ESP to trouble shoot with... (Exaggeration of System Parameters) What happens if I make this thing very big, or very small.... Sometimes a good way to get a handle on interactions...IP: Logged |

Razer, Da Jug Head asked me to post this for him: send me the plane and I'll make the necessary adjustments. Since I can't post, and since I keep getting a bounce back on your posted email, I haven't been able to contact you. Send the file and any states you have to fscentral@americanisp.net Da Jug head IP: Logged |

Hmmm. You know what, I've had my wings end up with DIFFERENT airAreas before, due to tinkering.Make sure that the the wing parts on each side have the same airArea, and that the airPT for each part is in "symmetrical" position on each wing. Check the airInc property too--it should be the same for each wing (you could set it higher on the side the plane rolls toward and that should counter the rolling). Also check the CG boxes in OPS to make sure they're all pretty much symmetrically placed. ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |
