I cannot get my computer to boot up when I put the card in? People say disable the onboard video card which is built in. Okay I cannot disable this piece of crap. My computer is a Hewlett Packard 8280 Pavillion...Yep crappy one. In the control panel it does not have an option to "disable" in this hardware profile all it has it "Exists In All Hardware Profiles" I looked at my motherboard physically and I cannot see any jumpers that would disable the onboard video card. I called HP they said when you put the card in, it should automatically disable the onboard card, but it doesn't. I need help PLEASE oh my god I am soo sick of this card and frame skips and lagging. It's pissing me off and I am about ready to shoot this crappy box if it don't let me put this card in QUICK!!!------------------ So many things so little time FarmerJoe IP: Logged |

OK, some ideas that might help:Usualy there is a jumper on the motherboard to diasble the built in card, try searching the net for a jumper layout, but in anycase: You need to go into the BIOS of your PC and check through the settings there, almost always you'll find a setting to disable the onboard graphics card, but you certainly wont find it in any windows settings. I'm gonna take a quick look myself to see if I can find any info on it, if I do I'll let you know ~Nat~ ------------------ =V67th= "Naturlich" "SDOE... Glide will only go up to 800X600 in SDOE. Trying for higher causes the off center picture. If you use the 1.5.2.6 patch you can use OpenGL which is just as good as Glide visually (IMO) and you can go to higher resolutions.IP: Logged |

I think you can still use glide at 1024x768 but when you enter 3D and you see the off centeredness--you just keep hitting ctrl = to recenter the screen and if you go to far you hit ctrl -. Its a pain but its the only way and it works. The newest patch does fix this glitch though.AQ [This message has been edited by ArthurQ (edited 04-16-2001).] IP: Logged |

Thanks guys I am running in d3d 1024 and it looks sweet so I will try the patch...Does that affect online play? If I have it and no one else does, will I still be able to play with them? Thanks about recentering the screen info. I will try that !!!------------------ So many things so little time FarmerJoe IP: Logged |
