First off!
Thanks ArgonV and The rest of you guys
for posting questions on problems and results
in fixing the problems.I read them alot and it's really helped in plane building.

I finished ( well almost) a Pfalz DIII
.........But I run into a problem I can't fix!
The plugins for the 3.0 version of AC3D to texture map using tiff doesn't work because they are made for the 2.5 beta7 version. :-(
I e-mailed Andy that made the programm to ask if i could get this version just to texture map! well see.
Also to SV thanks! for your plane building
pages it really helped in areas and some of the tight spots!

It took me over a month but i did it!!

Does anyone have a 2.5 version laying around?

The TIFF loader plugin was made by Hippie (as AC3D itself does not load TIFF files). This plugin was developed for AC3D 2.5 beta 7, but it works with AC3D 3.0 just fine!

Maybe you forgot to reinstall Hippie's plugins after you upgraded your AC3D version?

I think Andy won't be able to answer those questions. Maybe you should email Hippie about this.

Well infact i put a new copy of the AC3D and the Plugins restarted the pc and tried it again..... I got the exception code to tell andy whats wrong.
All my tiffs are untiffed.
I have gone through SV's tempelate for skin
texture mapping about a dozen times.

I use a Nividia card 32 bit.
I can use gifs for the scale drawings when i set the background when i made the Pfalz but
no luck on the loading tiffs?
What do you use or steps do you take to say:
texture map a wing or Fuse.
and when you make a template what dpi(72 or150 or more for the template?
also i add the id number to my asc file like SV says to.
thanks for your first response! I'm sure if the plugins work for you in 3.0 than I must be doing something wrong?

if you have a good paint program make sure your tifs are in RGB mode. AC3D will not load a tif if it's not in this mode. Even though they are untiffed they still wont work. check it out to make sure your tifs are set this way.

AC3D can be very buggy

Texture mapping is the hardest part. You can not load any tiffs ever? When does it crash? It sounds like an AC3D issue - maybe with your video card. Do you see any other AC3D bugs? Do all your ortho-view windows render correctly? Can you see textures in all windows?

I have to suffer allot to use AC3D - I must start it and close it twice before running in order to see all the windows. Also I see no selection bounding boxes. Selecting verts takes me about 20 seconds.

I have had these issues on three seperate systems and over 4 video cards

But I still love AC3D

I'll try RGB... I'm using Photoshop 5.5
by the way when you
save as .tif do you use the LZW compression?

I read all the time about issues that i have problems with then i print out the ones that i have run into and i have Know about 150 pages in a binder with these and the SV
plane building pages plus the Dm modeling from Harman 5 ( i hope i got his call sign correct) but i think its the insiration from you and SV and the ww1 forum plus i love ww1 planes. Yes i fly tha pfalz all the time it was the last step to give it a skin to say i was done with it.. well to step back and take a look at for a while.

SV
the only thing i get to see is the LOD's
of course it doesn't render but it shows only
the shades no color. My video card is a Nividia Geforce V7100 series 32 bit
I don't crash to the desk top just it gives the error code to report to Andy
or when i made a template to start on the wing to texture map it I got " unknown field
with tag 34377"
all my ortho windows show up but no texture mapping I'll try some other things
maybe it come about if not i'll let you guys know!
By the way I hope you don't mind i used the Albatros for the pfalz it was close to the Pfalz in many ways even when i made the scale plans the difference was only a few feet by the wings span and the fuselage.

when you save the tifs in PS 5.5 do not check the compression box.

And texture mapping isn't as hard as everyone says. If you practice you can get pretty good at it. I mapped the B-26 in an hour or two and I mapped the N1K2 in about 45 mins.
