I used the ol9 tools and extracted the LODs so I could edit them... Now here is my question: If I rebuild the SM file using ol9 (Instead of importing the LOD in OPS) what chances are there that it would screw up any prop lists or anything else?

Thanks!

yes, use the gunhit tif texture reference and put it in every place that you removed a texture ref. OL tools don't like blank texture refs and thrash your SM file in the rebuild. That is, unless you removed the refs from the OL file and not the SM before extracting. If this is the problem then I don't know a fix, SM files aren't my strong point... did you remember to renumber the texture refs after removing them in the OL file?

sounds complicated... er.. simpler answer

Answer 1 - If you delete texture refs from your SM file, then extracted it, and tried to rebuild and now it doesn't work anymore. Add a taxture ref to the blank spaces where you deleted them before.

Answer 2 - You removed the texture refs after extracting the SM file, and after rebuilding is wont load.
Makesure you re-numbered the texture file references in the OL file before rebuilding. Each texture has a number, if you remove number 5 but then don't renumber all the others so there's no break in the numbering then the SM will get fried.

If you remove a texture in the .ol file and renumber the textures to put them in sequencial order, you have to change the lods to point to these new numbers. For example, a lod may have mapped to texture number 12 in your .ol file, but after removing textures and renumbering them in the .ol file, number 12 does not exist. I hope this makes sense.

Alright Argon- good question. Why? cuz it turns out this was the problem with the disappearing gunsight on the wildcat. The frames texture was not sequentially #'d

I'm glad you asked this one.

Only problem is, now that I renumbered the texture and the LOD, the frames on the cockpit are messed up.

The only number I changed was the one for the frames as it was #47 and there was no #46. 46 is the last texture reference in the file. The gunsight reappeared though

Never Mind- found the LOD that was messed up and fixed it too. All textures are in place now- just need to find out why some of the gauges quit working.
