Please post your feedback here for the P-51D Beta 5.2 This version fixes the CTD in the new Beta Patch. The FM still has not been modified except for ground handling (which does imporve the stall/spin a little) The turn rate, top speed and climb rate are still stock from the original boxed version.

Please let me or Spin know if you want this in the new plane pack or if you want to go back to the one in the 5.3b plane pack. I will continue to work on the P-51D until it meets my satisfaction and hopefully yours as well.

Perhaps this would do more good in the General section for a more wide testing?

Is this the modified FM in PP6.1b3 or is this a different one? if it's a different one- where can we get it?

I posted it in the Download Section. The last time I posted a Beta here in the Tech Section, I didn't get any replies.

The FM is modified slightly, the goal was better ground handling and AI takeoff.

Yes, you still have to apply back pressure when you drop the flaps, however it makes the plane very stable. I have been able to flar on landing and even make several 3 point landings.

The biggest problem with the flaps is that they do not help your turning radius other than reduce the stall speed and minimize spins in tight turns. I think this will be one of Pangs biggest challenges.

ArgonV, I have heard so much flak about the flight model being too much or not enough that I would rather test it here with the guys in the know that visit the Tech Section.

Raider,

Here's one problem. Below 3000ft this plane climbs like a brick, everytime I put the climb rate over 1000 fpm, it'd bleed speed lik I dropped a set of air brakes. I couldn't keep the speed ov er 100mph even with a climb rate of only 1000fpm.

Once above 3000ft performance improves, and above 5000ft it's like someone swapped an Allison for the Merlin thats supposed to be in this plane.

Low altitude speed and climb rate are unbelievably low, at 5000ft this thing becomes a whole new aircraft.

What other areas do you feel need testing? I'll play with this some more this weekend.
