I need to make some ground objects and don't have a clue where to start. Can I modify a current object?

I have some experience converting existing ground objects into drivable ones, but I take it this is not what you want to achieve?

If you want to make normal static ground objects, simple! Just model one in your 3D editor and then start OPS. Load an existing ground object and then select Object | Import in OPS and choose the part you modelled (it must be in .obj or .LOD format) and click ok.

The newly modelled piece you are putting in place of the old one will have the texture of the 'old' model but you can just change the texture reference anyway.

Oh yes, and be sure to edit the prop lists to the whatever you're planning on making, this is quite obvious though.

Does this help?

Great thanks, but how and where do I find the object to convert? Do I need to extract it from a Par file?

And yes I want to make a new racing pylon first and later some gas trucks.

Yes, hacking into the par files seems like the best way to do it, unless you have an sm of a ground object ready to use.

One thing you might find handy (and only if you have enough disk space) is if you make some new folders in the media folder called "Data1", "Data2", "Data3" and so on. Then unpack the respective par files into them, and keep them there. You'll find the unpacked contents easy to access when you need them at a later date.

Just make sure you DON'T unpack the par files directly into the SDOE media folder!! This will possibly unpack older version files over your existing media\ folder structure and possibly screw everything up.

If you're after making some new racing pylons, you can simply unpack the existing ones from the pars, and just get the original GMC Fuel ground object and you're away!

If you need any help finding the sm files, I'll see if I can send them over to you.

Thanks
