I am hopeful the patch team can make this a true reality, but I fear that will be some time from now.

As an alternative, can we create designated landing areas such as small harbors or lagoons which lool like water but are actually made out of land terrain objects?

Maybe even an invisible airfield or something like that with some kind of visible markers showing where the real water is and where the "water" landing area is.

This would probably require the pby to have invisible landing gear to make it seem more realistic. This is not a fantastic option but I thought I would put it out there for discussion.

I'm using a similar idea on my current project. Using Razer's excellent A6M2-N floatplane you can start the mission on a seaplane tender (IJN cruiser) then be lowered into the water. You can then take off and then after your mission land by the tender and be raised back on board. I've used invisible plates so the floatplane sits slightly in the water but doesn't get damaged on take off or landing. These plates extend 3000' around the tender. The advantage of the tender is it can be placed anywhere on the terrain map.

Hmmmm The USS Langley is the best looking PBY tender I have seen pics of. (She was a converted carrier, so there is also a short flight deck as well (though usually PBY's would be there, but I have seen pictures with PBYs and BiPlanes.... Ohhh Nnnnnaaaaaatttt?????? Only problem is, she still wont settle into the water. Still its worth looking at. Let us know how it works out with the float plane....
