I've just re-written all of the loadout.ppf's for the various German planes to correctly reflect their names. Before anyone panics, I've experimented with this a lot and it has NO EFFECTS on the game other than to change the name in the popup to what it should be. So now instead of "Heinkel162" in the pop-up, it's "He 162A-2". I'll submit them for PP6.1.

I have a question for you all:

A number of the planes had comments in other languages which were "wrong". A lot of them had the comments simply cut and pasted in from other planes (!!!) and still others had the english text pasted in for the other languages. In these instances I _removed_ the incorrect text.

I know some of you might find this rather ballsy, so before submitting it to the PP I'd like to ask for comments on this. Is it better to have the wrong text, or no text, or would you like me to re-write them all?

Maury,

I had used AltaVista to translate english text in many of these cases.

I hope you used the beta 6.1 loadouts for this otherwise I'm going to have to add the gun loadouts back in.

I'm all in favour of it!

I don't have much of an understanding of German or Italian, but I can imagine how annoying I would find it to have screwy translations or text I couldn't read instead of the descriptions. Sure...all the world speaks english...

If we can have proper descriptions in proper language for all versions, it will make the whole planepack a lot more polished.

GO FOR IT!

Likewise the plane names. Some may say it doesn't matter, but I think it was a worthwhile effort. It's as easy to have them right as wrong....so why not have them right!

Only thing I would like added ( if it isn't already ) is the planes nick-name. So as well as the He162.....put "Salamander" where such names were used commonly. Bit awkward for the JApanese planes, since it was the Americans who named them Frank, Betty etc. I suppose the descriptions should mention it, but niot the plane name in that case.

food for thought...
