ah ha!I know this one!
The P47d has a system that produces a little puff of smoke when the engine starts. It does this by having an object attached to the prop which is 'held in place' by a DOF. The DOF is set to break when too much force is applied to it. It is also very weak. When the prop starts spinning , enough force is generated to break the DOF and detach the object attached to it. This detaching triggers a puff of smoke.
All the bits are hidden, so you don't know they are there at all.
Now.....if that object doesn't break ( which happens in some of the SDOE Beta's) you have this lump spinning around with the prop. It will hit the ground 5 or 6 feet below the aircraft and throw you everywhere. Should also happen when you start the engine on the ground. As soon as the prop starts spinning, you start bouncing all over the place!
If you make your plane invulnerable...NOTHING WILL BREAK! and the same thing happens! You make that detachable piece unbreakable!
It is 'normal' and sort of intentional!
The effect is supposed to happen, but by making the plane invulnerable, you block the intended operation. It is only there to make the engine smoke on startup, so it's not vital. Perhaps the patch crew can make this possible without the need for this sort of dodge!
