This wont affect the majority of people here, but it affects Tailgunner and myself. While working on a DM thats like waaaaaaaaaay out there we found that after rebuilding the SM file half of the aifoils were simply missing, all the reference to them had vanished from the wing parts, now I'm 100% sure that the version I sent tail had all aifoils inplace correctly, infact I used the backup I made when I sent it to him to put the data back, and I know that Tail didn't just go in and think "hey, I don't like all these airfoils, think I'll get rid of them" The aircraft in question has a total of 14 airfoils on the wings and 6 went diffi Is there anyway you can check this Hippie? ~Nat~

http://ariel.ucs.unimelb.edu.au/~gjo/ol-9.zip have you tried OL-9? hippie fixed it up so you can work with the engine DM on the planes. I had problems with the P-38 and the new OL works with them now..

Thanks Tony, I'll get that myself and try it out, Tail said he had the latest version but Hippie has been updating the tools quite often IP: Logged |

Sadly, even the newest OL tools can be "overrun" by a big enough property list. The only way the new Corsair would open in OL9 is if I saved it, then deleted the engine completely. OL9 would then break down the model for 3D work. After recompiling the model, I had to then use OPS to copy the engine back in from the previously-saved model. Workable, but tedious.Find the "largest" property listing on your model (probably the engine, with these new modeling tricks we're doin). Save a "good" version of the .sm and delete the object with the large list. Save the .sm as a "new" .sm, and open THAT with OL9. Once you're done with the 3D work, use OPS to copy the previously-deleted object back into the model. All the references and whatnot will still be good, but be sure to copy the object to its correct parent. Obviously, this won't work if the object you need to do 3D work on is the one with the big property list... ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

Yep Jedi, thats a good idea, myself I don't often need OL Tools, but Tail does, Luckily though we've nailed this one down to an OPS problem and not OLIP: Logged |

Crikey, these property lists are getting out of hand! I'm going to do some serious rejigging of the OL tools and the OL import export code if you expect to be able to handle really large property lists, the OL import/export just won't deal with it currently. Hippie IP: Logged |

Thanks Hippie, that would be a very good idea, since not only are the proplists now getting larger, the number of proplists is increasing to about treble the standard amount so I know that any improvements you can make are going to be of great use in the very near future IP: Logged | |
