S! All,

Pretty new to SDOE, and want to try painting my own skins. I've used the tools DLed from ParSoft to unbig the Data1 and Data2 files. This goes well, but when I try to open any .TIF file in Adobe PhotoShop 5.5, I get "an unknown compression type for this file" (or somesuch) error. I've tried renaming the files to different formats but I cannot seem to get the files to open.

Any Suggestions?

Dub

There is another little application called untiff. This changes the compression of the tif's into something more usual which you can edit. Can be a little bit quirky though!

If you get stuck, the best thing to do is to download another user painted skin of the plane you want to work on. This should work fine! There is no need to convert the tif's back into the format they shipped in to work!

There are some good skins on fshangar.com that should get you started. Also, check out teh download section of theforum for some new skins. There have been a few recently!

If you get really stuck, I can mail you a skin of whatever plane you want to paint up in a format that will work o.k. in most paint programs.
