Ok, I used the advise in the advice corner all ready- I am adding a file reference for a new gun I made, here is a pic: The gun looks perfect in OPS, but in SDOE it just does not show up and you can not fire the gun at all- but the plane works fine. Here is what I did: 1. Created the new gun as part of the EIII- all fine! 2. Used the bike.sm basic sm file and imported the gun LOD over thebike LOD- and added the prop lists for the gun exactly from the gun prop list when it was on the EIII. 3. Put the new gun sm file and textures here: media/guns/spandau/ When I open the spandau.sm file in OPS, it looks perfect. 4. Now I copied the pilot reference in OPS and pasted it as a child to the EIII. IT now shows up at the bottom. I then changed the path to point to my spandau.sm file. When I reloaded OPS it sucked in the spandau sm file perfect! Now I just positioned it. Any ideas what I am missing here? Much thanks! ------------------ -Sv =FC= WWI in SDOE! IP: Logged |

Can you try moving the gun into the aircraft/weapons folder and reference it from there? Can you send me a copy, I would really like to use it (reference it) for the DVII also.

Hmmm, no such thing seems to be around... and I notice that no other aircraft use a file reference for a gun. I can't think why it would not at least show up in the game As far as I can tell, a file reference is loaded just as if it were part of the SM file... but maybe a referenced sm file needs some special properties? I will look at other referenced files that work... IP: Logged |

Ok here it goes: The referenced gun MUST be in a group I believe. (Have you noticed that any thing referenced is in a group? ) You said you had the gun properties in, but did you update the loadout.ppf file with the correct gun name? And did you update the gunList in the pilotview object with also the correct gun name?If you are having further trouble, send it my way. I mess with loadouts ALOT. Can I ask a completely different question? In the picture I see some "groups" with the airplane icon - parts. I also see another group with the group icon. Sadly the later cannot be renamed - at least not in OPS. Is there any reason not to use a part with children in most of the cases where you'd use a group (with "childen")? Maury IP: Logged |

Whoa, Argon, I think you just solved the problem I had with the He 100? Where is this pilotview object typically located, and is the name simply in the prop list? Maury IP: Logged |
