I have a mission that lets you check out the landing and takeoff of the AI with different planes.

They start on the field, take off, climb to 1200 ft, fly CAP for a couple of minutes & then land.

All you have to do is change the plane type in the mission editor for testing different planes.

I threw in an extra plan at another field you can use to practice strafing runs with once the AI planes land

You experienced OP guys probably figured this out, but I thought some new guys might be interested.

This might be something to add to the 'planepack guidelines'

Have a standard mission set for the AI to fly a plane, and also to check framerates.

Not to say yes or no to inclusion, but to include as a valuable piece of information. No point in setting up missions where AI flys planes that never take off!

A standard benchmark mission sets would be REALLY USEFUL!

Wakeup and Argon,

Since the plane designers have enough to deal with, if you give me ideas for standard test missions, I'll create them.

This way, the designers only have to worry about plugging their plane into the test instead of creating one.

There would probably also need to be some customized for bombers and fighters.

Standard test missions would be cool.

Make a bombing mission, an intercept mission, a takeoff mission, a landing mission and a dogfight mission. These should just about cover everything.

I agree with Argon.

Start with takeoff and landing missions, preferably with a runway without clutter. If the plane swings all over the place, yes we need to know, but at least the plane will still get into the air.....if it can!

Likewise for landing.

Dogfight missions should perhaps be 1 on 1 or maybe 3 on 3.

Bombing mission should be aimed at preventing the problems with the 110 and Stuka, which bombed too low to survive. A straight forward level bombing run should do the trick. Up fly over target, unload bombs. No flak or opposition to make it harder!

I was bugged by the 110's in the Desert Fox campaign on several occaisions. Did well against the fighters, had some ammo left, hunt the 110's, get on the tail of one, and it dropped bombs....blew us all to pieces.

Don't think we need much more than that. Simple missions to test the basic things the plane should do under AI control, plus a good test of relative FR's.

Go for it!!!!
