I have the 163 so that it can jettison the fuel tank, but when the fuel tank is jettisoned the engine keeps going. What can I do to make the engine stop when the fuel is dropped?

in the 163 properties
onChildDetach 'FuelTank obexec Name 'engine Func 'Kill
in the engine
obFunc 'Kill obKillDelay 1

That should do it for you Aladar

I would think that Nat's suggestion should work. Be sure this is in the properties of the Parent object 163 and that the fuel tank is a child object of the parent object. Or you could add this property to the fuel tank itself, just use onDetach instead of onChildDetach.

Make sure you don't have another fuel tank hidden somewhere in the model. I'm pretty sure the engine will draw fuel from ANY tank object, regardless of what you've specified as its actual fuel source.

An alternative way to handle this would be to change the engine's SFC to a really high number. Instead of just detaching the fuel tank, have the SFC change to, say 10000 or so. The engine will run for a few seconds and then die. You can still have the fuel tank itself detach for visual effect if you wish.

I have been flying this rocket alot and made myself a cool "B-17 goes bombing but meets up with 163 gang" mission. I tried to get this thing to shut down after a short time as in "run out of fuel" and glide back like the real one did but some run out, some don't. I even set the fuel as low as 10!

With 30 lbs of fuel in the mission editor, your craft SHOULD run out of fuel in about 8 minutes. I havent tested the AI on this one tho...
