Hi all

Can anyone help.

Desperately trying to make a canopy with transparent glass.

I have made a canopy lod, how to make it transparent is the problem.

Do I need to give the canopy lod a texture first? Where am I going wrong.

Some one come to my rescue please.

Are there any tutorials around?

Anything welcomed

Yes, you must texture it with a special "alpha" texture. This is a texture that has a fourth channel that represents the transparency. The key steps are:

1. Create a texture graphic using Photoshop or the like, add a channel to it, this is automaticaly the alpha channel in photoshop. Black is transparent, white is opaque, and grey is semi-transparent. The color for opaque areas is taken from the RGB channels like normal. So you can have a red tinted window - or use the color to add reflections, etc.

2. Map this texture to your LOD

3. Add this texture to the .sm file, make sure the flags are set to use alpha!

4. Make sure your polys use the new texture ID.

Done!

Look here for details about basic texturing:
