I will add details if you need more information than this. Just let me know.I am including a section from the readme file I released the Engine Damage beta 1.
Notes On Engine Damage Events Modeled:
1) Cooling System
20% probability of occuring at Damage Levels 1, 2, and 3. White smoke displays. Engine will
virtually overheat and die after a short amount of time. Time period is shorter at damage level
3. Overheat does not register in cockpit except for the P51d. In the P51d, press 'y' key
to lower the engine temperature.
2) Fuel Leak
50% probability of occuring at Damage Levels 1, 2, and 3. Thin trail light purple smoke displays.
Fuel guage will register loss of fuel. Fuel loss is greater at damage level 3. The fuel leak is
actually a smoke trail, so if you land, the fuel leak will rise. The same for damage event 3 below.
The time frame for the leak is short so hopefully it will end before you land.
3) Fuel Line severed
5% probability of occuring at Damage Levels 1, 2, and 3. Thin trail light purple smoke displays
and the engine will shut off.
4) Power Loss
40% probability of occuring at Damage Levels 1, 2, and 3. Black smoke displays.
Engine performance decreases. Power loss is greater at damage level 3. Power loss
consists of decreased maximum rpms for now.
5) Explosion
4% probability of occuring at Damage Levels 1, 2, and 3. A small explosion will be heard. Plane will
shift of course momentarily. Plane and or Control surfaces may or may not be destroyed.
Engine will shut off.
6) Fire
5% probability of occuring at Damage Levels 1, 2, and 3. Fire displays and the plane will explode
once the fire resistance level has been reached. Fire Resistance is set to 15 for now.
7) The game engine itself will start an engine fire or fuel leak fire at times. Please note some
testers have said when the fuel leak catches fire, it doesn't look real. Well that is probably
true but that seems to be a limitation of the game engine currently.
