I've been working on the lower LODs for the Ki-61 and i didn't want to do a lower cockpit since the framing pissed me off the first time i did it. What i'm going to do on all the lower LODs is just paint the cockpit on a solid 3D model. I think that will give it a boost in the FR department and still look pretty good. With the models i have now, i'm pretty sure you could get 10 Ki-61s in a dogfighter and still get great FR. with all 10 planes in the air and being not really close to you there would only be about 80 polys running around. ------------------ Tony "Razer" Martin "Making SDOE a dangerous Place, One plane at a time!" Is your cocpit a seperate SM?If so, I see what you mean! It would be really simple to do. The level of detail would be on a par with the EAW cockpits, where all you have is just an outline pilot, and the canopy. Carelfully painted, the whole thing would look fine. Loss of the tranparency textures should boost FR too. IP: Logged |

it's a good idea Tony, it's something that I had to do with the A10 in an attempt to help the FR as much as I could, on mine it doesn't look great, but it does look OK, with a little more time and effort, which I'm sure you;ll put in, it will look just fine and you'll hardly notice the differenceIP: Logged |

Hehe good idea. You might try this: run the sim, zoom in so you're looking at the high-detail lod, and take a screenshot.Cut and paste the cockpit area from the screenshot into your .tif, and map that area to the cockpit of the low-level .lods. Now you'll see the "cockpit and pilot" without having to actually see the cockpit and pilot
