Hi again,I am doing some final double checking and wanted to confirm the planes I have set for water cooled damage versus air cooled damage. Visually it should only impact the color of the smoke trial, and mabye how much longer the engine will run after loosing its cooling. Any way here are the Water cooled a/c as I have them now. Please let me know what planes are missing or are incorrect. It is very easy to modify the damage between air cooled and water cooled. Mosquito P51D Typhoon Spitfire P38J All other a/c I am using air cooled damage effects. Thanks,

Air cooled engines are harder to damage since they can't loose their coolant like the liquid cooled types. TS IP: Logged |

I liked the 'cylinder' approach on the P47. You could apply a similar thing to radials generically. I think, though it will be a lot of work, that radials need a seperate damage model completely. There characteristics and damage taking are quite different. They could soak up damage, losing power, but had no coolant or radiator system to worry about. Some had oil coolers, which may take hits, but on the whole, they were a lot more rugged. Inline w/c motors offered better aerodynamics. Please don't compromise on this!Condor, you have put in a lot of work here so far, and I think this is a crucial area. If it means model changes to accomodate it, so be it! you could paste in bits of the jug and hide them short term, but I think that is the way to go. IP: Logged |

Thanks for info guys.I am getting closer every day now.  I am trying to keep it simple for now damage wise. I will modify as needed once testing is completed by my group of volunteers. I am currently only doing the fighters. No bombers for now. My hope is to have all fighters have at least some kind of functioning engine damage(in a short amount of time rather than longer) and improve from there as time goes on. Once all fighters initially have engine damage, each month I can concentrate on tweeking specific items for each plane. I will put out something for the F4u's and the P47 but I expect any permanent update for the engine damage would be handled by their current owners(Jedi and Bjorn). Also if there are any other planes being worked on by someone who wants to do their own engine damage, those planes ofcourse would be handled similiarly. Condor out ------------------

PBY was radial. Twin row 7 cylinder... All 14 cylinders (per engine) have been modeled. At the moment they are one object but it won't (notice the future tense ) be too hard to break them out and do damage to each one.... The PBY should be a DM modelers dream.
