MH or Mighty,

Is there any way to trigger a rocket, but not have it go anywhere? Its still a rocket but its attached to the plane, NOT on a pylon...

I'm thinking that this will have to be made as an engine... but don't ask me anymore cause I dunno how this will work lol, someone did get booster engines working not long back though, and obviously the catapult system on the carrier aircraft use this aswell if thats any help

This probably won't help, but if you take an existing plane and change its engines obProto property from CEngine to CRocket, the rocket engine sound will startup when you press the start engines key.

Problem is, the thrust and burn time for the CRocket object are hard coded, and the thrust value is probably only good enough for a 160lb or so rocket, a little less that a 8000lb aircraft needs.

i think the only solution is probably a fake booster rocket using a CEngine.

See told ya it wouldn't help

8000lbs..... The plane he has in mind (I think) was closer to 30,000 when loaded....
I suspect that the reverse invisible booster engines that leave a thick smoke cloud will be the final answer....

Bryan, actually that DID help! What a wonderfull idea! I could make 10 or so invisible rocket engines and keep the origonal engines in. (Someone could even change the LOD for two of the rocket engines so they look like real booster rockets) That way enough thrust will be provided for an assisted takeoff.

Snickers... what plane do you THINK Im going to ATTEMPT to do this with? (I actually have 2 in mind if this works)
