I had a look at the island terrain after Reaperman noticed some odd behaviour when he got the start co-ords wrong for some planes. They were able to drive around on the water. Haven't tested it out yet, but I did notice some things that seemed very odd indeed when I looked it the model...
First, it is more than 1 model!!!
The land and sea edges are one, the sea another. There is a big hole in the sea where the island sits, and the land also has a 'bottom' to it.
Also, the terrain doesn't sit at the zero line either. I don't know if this affects where sea level and zero feet are?
Either way, If you wanted to turn, say, africa into an Island type terrain, all you would need to do is to have an all sea terrain, and position the africa terrain a little bit lower. Add in the water .SM...Instant Flood!
You could then, in theory, remove any bits of land you didn't need.
Alternatively, and this is the interesting bit, if you raised the level of the sea, does this remove some of the problems I had with wet landings?
I will try to place some planes on the watery bits of Island, and see what happens. If I can effect a landing or takeoff there, happy day!
