Hi guys...I visited Airbudda's site the other day and had a look at his article on painting ( http://thehangar.dogfighter.com/Paint.htm ).
Under the heading 'Color Depth and Palette issues' he talks about the use of 16 bit and 8 bit colours....here's an extract:
"Another factor that a non-professional skin artist won't normally run into is the fact that the greater the color depth of a texture or skin the more memory it takes up....
...As well as an image of 256x256 pixels at 8 bit color depth will take up less memory than an image of the same 256x256 pixels but at 16 bit color depth."
I know given his background, he's refering to painting in CFS & EAW etc, but does this apply to FSDOE equaly as well ?
Now, I'm obviously not an expert on this (duh
) but I think my skins are at 16 bit - Is FSDOE optimised for 16 bit ?
Why ask these questions...well after reading the article I thought - sh..t - maybe I'm not doing the right thing with my skins....and worse I could be stuffing people around too
I'd apprecitate some comments...
Cheers,
