Hey Guys, the A10 now has all it's second level LODs added and texture (Yipee!) Problem though.. the parts wont smooth, so it looks a little chunky, not nasty or nuthin, but still.

Now I tried smoothing them in Max, but it wouldn't, I cleared all the smoothing and applied again, starting at the default of 4.0 all the way upto 90.0 and it did nothing.

Ideas on this anyone please?

Thanks

~Nat~

Hi,
happens sometimes here too, Nat. Most of the time it is caused by double faces. Either use the "STL-check" modifyer to find such double faces or use a free script to find double faces.
Exporting to Dxf and reimporting it will helpt too.
Here is a good place for finding scripts for Max:

Smoothing groups are unique to Max and don't really have any affect on objects in SDOE. To smooth faces in SDOE, just make sure verts along edges you want to be smoothed are welded. To weld verts, go to the vert level, select any two or more verts, and press the "selected" button in the Weld section of the Edit Mesh panel. You may need to play with the threshold in order to get verts to weld.... but be careful not to set the thresh too high or you may end up welding stuff that you don't mean to weld.
