Spanky here...

Ok i'm having problems with my 109z.

I'm uploading it to sim files so maybe you guys can take a look at it.

I got the tail changed over and the center wing section done.

The problems i'm having is when i export the right fuse to max and tweak it a bit, I bring it back into OPS and it doesn't keep the smoothing nor the textures.

It worked fine with the center wing, horizontal stab, and elevator. But now when i want to do the fuse (and i have tried 3 times at different times) it just doesn't want to work.

Meanwhile i'm going to work on putting some oilcoolers, rads on the center wing section and doubleing up the landing gear like it is in the three way.

So right now my problems are, the fuse being weird, razer had it fixed in ac3d he said he just put the smoothing back and fixed a texture reference. But i want to know how to do that in max.

My other problem is that i can't get the tail wheels to steer, i took a look at razor747's p82 but his doesn't work either.

I'll post a pic and download link in the general section shortly,

any help is greatly apriciated.

The tail wheel has to have a dofID assigned to 'steer. Then there must be a property for the main fuse called vehSteer and it should have the name of the tailwheel there. I.E. vehSteer 'tailWheelSteer

NOTE: There can be only one tail wheel that steers I believe. I tried having both tail wheels steer on the Mistel but no go...

OK problem now.

How am i going to get the tail wheels to turn>?

The ground handleing is sucking eggs right now without a steerable tailwheel.

Anyone got any ideas>?

I'm thinking either an invisible tailwheel that turns and just leave the other ones on for looks

OR maybe somehow link the wheels off the rudders. even if they turn all the time even when they are retracted i don't think it would matter much.

ANywas ideas are welcome.

I messed around making one of these a while back. Never got it flying properly, but I learnt a few modelling tricks trying.

Have you tried putting a hidden tailwheel in the middle. It would have to sit between the two tailwheels, but would at least apply the turning forces somewhere useful. The other tailwheels could be turned with a simple dof if you wanted it to look ok.

Can't think of any other way that would work.

You can make both tailwheels turn. All you have to do is make the DOF turn with the movement of the joystick. I had it working on my P-82 but I lost that version in a crash several months ago. If you can't get it to work, I will do it for you.

So your talking instead of using the code for it work around it kinda like when people make the animated rudder pedals?

Thats a decent idea. Will they turn even when retracted though?

Not that its a big problem if the do. I'm just wondering if theres a way to keep them from doing it.

You can have the DOF that retracts them into the body disable the tailwheel when it is retracted. Give it a try and see what happens.

In reference to the hiding of the gear -

Examine how the lanc hides it's main gear when retracted... hell just copy the code and change the references to point to your gear .

I never did pay attention to how the moving rudder pedals worked, for that matter, I never looked to see if the plane had rudder pedals .
