Spanky here..

Ok i have a rough start on the libelle. and i want to get it into the game now just to see some progress even though it will still need to be cut up more and control surfaces and cockpit glass done.

K so Whats the best way to get the parts from max to ops>?

tail was trying to teach me how to get it all over using the script but for some reason instead of saving as a OBJ it saves at a MAT.

So i exported as 3ds and then used crossroads to convert to obj.

That works ok and gets it in but it ends up in OPS WAY too big, just the front section of my fuse is bigger then the whole F86.

In max i used 1 unit equals 1 foot and drew off of planes sized and texture maped with 3 ways of my plane.

Even when i shrunk the part down to 10% of its former size its still the same size in ops. Why>?

And lastly how do i get the material colors i pick in max to show up in ops>? Its just a grey blob right now and it doesn't seem very defined at all..

LOL thats all for now.

What does it do>?

and i got the material colors to work by using vrml export.

Thanks for any help guys.

Reset Transform (reset x form) is in the Utilities (hammer)folder in the work space on the right (can't remeber the name.

As for scale and getting it into OPS, personaly I export a part as an object using Obj2Max/Max2Obj As for scale, you can set your measurement prefs and use the Utilities to measure the part you have so that you get the right size, of for a rough guide, export from OPS a similar sized aircraft import it into max, then just rescale your model, delete the other aircraft and you're done. If you use Max2 Obj make sure that when exporting the vertex scale is set to 1.0 and that the part is textured (you can get errors if it's not textured first)

hope this helps some Spanky

Spanky here...

Ok I got it out and into OPS using Vrml, after scaleing my model down by a factor of 10 for some reason even though i built it to the correct scale. Its wacky.

Anyways so the fuse and right wing and stabs are the right size but my tail boom and left wing are freaking HUGE.

Even though in max they are all the right size in relation to each other.

Whats up with that boys>? I mean there has to be an easier way to get stuff from max to ops that always works reliably without work arounds or errors. and if there isn't someone should try to find or make one.

Man, this is insane trying to get something you made into SDOE as you imagine it.

Spanky!

Maybe you changed the vertex scale number in the export dialouge and thatīs why you get them in different sizes in OPS? It seems far fetched that you changed them but maybe...If so, try re-exporting and importing the parts that now are too big and make sure the vertex scale is the same as when you exported the "right-sized" parts.

Well, I too wish someone could fix those things, but all I can say is, keep trying, post questions here, try again and you shall succeed My experience with Max and OPS is that sometimes things work and sometimes they donīt...

Let us know if you get it to work!
