Spanky here.. How hard on the FPS do you guys think it would be to model the pilot in the cockpit (with a revised 3d model and skin) while you are in the cockpit. Like you can see your hands on the stick and throttle and your feet moving on the rudder pedels. Cause that would really make it seem a little more real. IP: Logged |

To do it is easy, it was a simple matter to add gunners to the B17 waist positions. I put the viewpoint just forward of the face, and you could look down and see the body. Trouble is, to make it look human, you need lots of polys.......It's a tradeoff. If you can get a good shape with a reasonable poly count, it would be o.k. Otherwise, you would need one big PC to play! p.s. What may work better is to have just hands and feet. If you position the viewpoint so max zoomback doesn't reveal the truth! that would make life easier. You would just add arms to the moving stick we already can do. Moving rudder pedals should be possible the same way. IP: Logged |

I accidentally did this with the Corsair--it didn't look all that good unfortunately, since I was just looking at the .lods of the pilot figure from very close range, and the pilots aren't all that detailed. You could add some "arm" and "leg" objects to the stick and rudders, and texture them with decent detail, and then make the .lods only appear at close range, so they wouldn't conflict with the pilot figure in the external view. ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

Hmm - of course it would add some more "feeling" but in the Pe-2 (remember this plane ?) it sucks down the FPS rates...LK IP: Logged | |
