yes please!

if you can't get it to work on the address in my profile, I can supply another.

It all depends on how big the file is.

A Max tutorial is something I need BIG-TIME!!!!!!!

If you can't mail it anywhere, how about setting up some free web disk-space, and uploading it there. If you post the share password, we could all grab it from there.

A link in the resources section would preserve it for prosperity!

I've mentioned in the past about not wanting this to become a warez site, nor a bunch of pointers to warez sites. We'll let you say just about anything, but please no piracy.

Spanky, your wording makes me wonder if you're talking about a commercial product. Is it?

Spanky here...

Actually I think its the manual for Max 2

Since the people using max should own max

It shouldn't be a problem for them to get the manual in PDF form right?

There are plenty of text books on Max out there, full of lots of useful information....written by people who know exactly what they are doing!

I don't know what half the things they mention are, and probably don't need to know them to model for SDOE.

What lots of us need is help of a basic and simple nature, help that tells us how to use the functions of Max that help with SDOE.

Perhaps it would be easier and more 'legal' to talk Spanky into writing some SDOe tutorials on Max.

I have read several text books on Max and gained little useful knowledge from them!

I know that feeling Tailgunner!

I don't think that a copy of this manual/pdf file can be classed as warez though, it's not a program it's a text file and I thank Spanky for his original post and offer of it to those of us that could use it.

IMO there should be a section for 3d Studio Questions on the messageboard. I remember when I first got Max was I ever scared, now as I get deeper into it, it all makes sense and starts to kick even more ass! Just pop off the questions as you need em! Spanky if you wanna make a basic 3d Max Tutorial I can get with you on it if you need help. I have 2 projects in my queue so this i'd be third and then queue's gonna be full. I am almost done with one project so it will free up some "SDOE time". He he I gotta present for yall http://www.3dlinks.com/tutorials_max.cfm

Oh, great. A nice fuzzy wide line. :-)

I can understand the sentiment, "It came in the product manual so it can't be warez because they should already have it." OTOH, the people who need it are the ones who got 3DS from a warez site. Do you see our dilemma?

We don't want to turn this into a game of seeing what you can slip past us. We have a bunch of good people here who we trust to police themselves on this sort of thing. If this tutorial is legit then we're happy to leave it. If not, then we're going to count on Spanky to edit his post. There are plenty of thoroughly legit 3DS tutorials on the net that we shouldn't need anything shady here.

Thanks for the links FJ!

Mighty....I appreciate your dilemma, and fully understand what you are saying. If people choose to obtain mega expensive software through the backdoor, that is their affair. You, on the other hand, could be held responsible if you support or promote that sort of activity and the last thing we want is to involve our beloved forum in software piracy issues!

There are literally hundreds of links and tutorials on the page Farmer Joe has posted! I should be able to figure out what I need from there!

Fellas, you can learn from a 1500 page Max book. The info is there, it just takes time and practice. I may be wrong, but I am assuming that you are looking for some quick answers on how to do this stuff. It won't work that way. You have to read the chapters on mesh modelling and working with primitives. Read each chapter twice and then do the tutorials. Forget about using Max to build planes for a while. Get good at building boxes and cones. Then learn how to edit at sub-object mode...which is where the meat of your editing will be done at. If you have a specific question about Max then post it in here or on the max newsgroup.

Those books will help. You just need to think of it as you are trying to learn Max only. Forget about SDOE and complex objects for the time being. Baby steps.
