Is it possible to use high-resulution textures in 3DStudio? Whenever I try with textures above ca 512x512 they get resized (and badly so) with the result that a lot of the details disappears, lines with large gaps etc.

What I'm doing is I'm using three texture-mapped squares for the various 3views but 512x resolution aren't enough to work with. And using a background image in MAX doesn't work any good either. Although this latter solution supports 1024x images it's just too many problems when using it - locking the grid and such doesn't always work and the image moves away to another position etc.

Is it at all possible?
thanks //Aui

I believe we're stuck with the 512x512 viewport texture resolution :-( Sucks, doesn't it?
I render the scene every once in a while when I'm working on tricky areas like the canopy. That helps a little.
You could, of course, break up a large blueprint into multiple 512x512 parts and apply those to panels in the Max scene. Or, perhaps have individual 512x512 images of tricky parts. For instance, I usually have a separate image i use for just the canopy.

Ah... seems I have to do what I was afraid of - multiple squares like you suggested... =(

Btw Anyone know if this problem still exist in versions later than R2.5?
