I'm writing a program to export some 3d models to the AC3D format. I have everything working, but to import the AC3D format back into my program I need to include the vertex normal information. I have not seen in the AC3D docs or file format guide that it uses the vertex normals in the format. Some of the file formats it exports to include the vertex normals, though. Does anyone know if AC3D can include the vertex normal information when saving the file? If not, can anyone tell me how I can calculate the vertex normals for an object? Thanks.

I would love to know this too! Vertex normals are a big deal. Hippie gave me some good tips though. Last night I had a vertex normal problem. I fooled with the object a bit and re-smoothed, fixed!

Also you can email Andy, he is quite responsive.
