This "thing" has two rotating variable angle-of-attack wings with engines on the ends that pitch according to the throttle setting. She is very stable in "flight" - the only control used is the throttle. I went up to 20,000ft before getting bored and let her sink back down for a feather landing only a few meters from the take off position. The red and green smoke is for effect - looks slightly different in motion

Q: How can I make the fuselage NOT spin along with the rotor parts?

You could make a really big propellor and have the wing sections be the blades.

Can you say the beginings of a triebflugel? The "prop" needs to be a seperate object (a child) of the main fuse and it needs to have a rotating DOF (360 degrees)

I've not had any sucess with your suggestions, or perhaps I did them wrong. The Me262.sm file for this is here if you want to have a look: hoverbover.zip

Cut and paste the wings so they are both child of new object. You could make a .LOD for it representing the spinning collar they are attached to. This object would in turn be a child of the fuselage and have a rotate .DOF that lets it spin around it's center.

made me feel sick when I flew it..

Jet, I got some good ideas on how to stop the body spinning, I'll talk to you about it next time I see you online if you haven't solved it before then, but I think it should work, I just need to get the parts straightend out in my head first

Cool Argon
This is very neat! If we can get this thing working than it'll serve as proof that the Tribfugel or whatever you call it could work as well. Instead of modeling it in the same position as an airplane you'd just create it in OPS standing on it's tail. That way when the mission starts it'd hopefully be standing upright. Good work Jetlag!
