I managed to work a bit more on the B-29 last night, like figure out why the plane *slows down* in a dive - I put a comma in the weight ie 69,180 as opposed to 69180 . Even worse, I found a CTD error that started cropping up after I added a nose observer, and persisted once I removed him. I stomped on that CTD, re-added the observer, tweaked some of the FM, then repositioned the landing gear to give the plane it's 14.1"ish of prop ground clearance. Doing that toasted all the DOFs for the gear retract and spring on one side (??). So I just cut and pasted the right gear onto the broke left gear, changed the names, etc. Then SDOE started locking up and now I have to go through the plane again to see what part is causing it. The quick way is to shoot parts until killing one part locks it up. All of this after tuning down (not enough) a hard torque pull to the left on take off. I'll probably victimize a few volunteers who might be able to track the problem, while I work on the model some more and another diversionary project (the diversionary project won't get done by me, but it will be close).

What a downer. I had a stable version, but with an error in the weight. I might just revert to that version.

it's a bummer when this happens!

Kick it into touch and go back to the working version. The weight prob is an easy fix.

Can't wait to see another big bird in the game.

Any one have a yellow skin for the stork in the WWI pack? The funny thing is that I have to find out if the reserve version had this issue, as well... this could bite.

Grand, I went to go clean a bit while I had the B-29 in a test flight and it CTD' geesh... crashing and smashing it didn't CTD it. I'll just have to keep running damage scenarios until it doesn't work.

I did get to watch the B-29 from the side last night trying to take off. It was really neat seeing the wing tips slowly flex upwards. As it is with 2 bays of the Lanc's heavy loadout (I think 14x100lb bombs) the play will sluggishly lift off at 140 mph. Maybe it will be better once I figure out how to get the propper airfoil into the game.
