Is there a way I can get rid of the glass and stay compatible online? Since the reflections were added my frame rate dropped from 40 to 18.. TS

Jesus ! That much ? Sht ! I don't know about online combatibly, but we two flew online once where I got a newer version of the cockpit (PePanel) than you. Might be no problem just to delete the LOD or make it hidden. But such a huge drop in FPS from one 32x32 texture (of course used all over the screen)? Damn ! We could try it out tonight - 22.00 CET ??!! LK IP: Logged |

I have a p3-700 but I set the fog as far out as possible so I can maintain 20fps at all times. Its great being able to see the horizon from high up. TS

What is your fog set to? Mines at 100000.000000....[This message has been edited by ArgonV (edited 08-08-2000).] IP: Logged |

Mine's at 10.. I get about 18fps zoomed out in cockpit view flying through clouds, and about 40fps zoomed in, about 70 fps external view. I've seen you lagging online before Argon, it's the minimum FPS that counts.. TS IP: Logged |

Tailslide, I never played on-line........I just did a re-FPS check. 53-60 outside, 42 inside zoomed out all the way, 70 inside zoomed in all the way with the Pe-2. Im curious, what graphics card do you have and what res are you running in? Ive sooped up a few missions to see how low I could get the FPS. The only times things start to get a wee bit jerky is when there are 16 planes in the air and 5 ships on the ground firing their cannons (I think the cannon fire sounds slow me down more than the planes and ships because it fires too damned much! That and I made a mission with 17 ships which werent firing and 4 planes and it wasnt jerky at all, so it must be the sound) [This message has been edited by ArgonV (edited 08-08-2000).] IP: Logged |

Ooops! I must be thinking of another A.. I can have 20 yak dogfights with the new cockpit and stay above 20fps most of the time. I can have 16 plane F86 dogfights and stay above 20fps most of the time. Same with the rest of the shipped fighters. Can you try with clouds turned on flying through them in the air to air training mission? I get similar FPS as you if I am just sitting on the runway but not flying through clouds. I know other people have problems with canopy reflections and clouds since whenever we play with planes that have built in reflections many of the people lag. TS

Just tried it with clouds in the Pe-2. I get around 30-32 zoomed out in the cockpit, 33-40 zoomed all the way in and 42-64 outside the Pe-2. (depending on how many clouds and how thick and big they are) What bothers me is you have a P3 700 and you are getting lower framerates in some cases. Im running a P3 500 with a V3 3000 AGP and getting higher framerates. It must be the res and type of graphics card. Im running 800x600 in glide (for some reason if I do 1024x768 in glide the screen is too big and I have to adjust it all the time, otherwise I would run it in 1024x768 since I get the exact same framerates on that res setting as 800x600) D3d is slower than glide so I dont do D3d.[This message has been edited by ArgonV (edited 08-08-2000).] IP: Logged |

I am running an AGP TNT2 Ultra card at 1600x1200 in direct 3d. Probably D3D doesn't handle multiple levels of transparency as well as glide.. or maybe it's the resolution can you try setting yours to 1600x1200? I don't want to buy a new video card I just want to be able to remove the reflections TS

Tail ??? No problem Sir ! I tested it online tonight (thanks Yardstick and Jetlag ) - I added an (obHidden) to the glass, so it was gone, no missmatches too - enjoy it !I even found a solution for the gunners (I hope it was that - check : http://www.fightersquadron.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/002475.html LK :P IP: Logged |

FYI, I made the glass obhidden and changed the switchin on the pilot and navigator so they're not visible from the inside. I went from 18fps forward view in the clouds to 30fps and from 16fps rear view to 30fps. The funny brown lines at 10 and 2 oclock seem to be gone now too. TS
