Can it be done? ... How?

1. make a new pic

2. paint your alpha channel - black solid/white is tranbsparent

3. go for...Masks-->New-->from Image

4. choose "Source Luminance" and check "Invert mask data" (otherwise black would be transparent and white would be solid )

5. click OK

6. Masks-->Save to alpha channel, click OK 2 times (don't care about names)

7. Masks-->Delete, DO NOT merge the mask ! (click NO)

8. save the .tif

9.
