Okay I have a .sm file with 4 models in it and no file references or groups. I added a pilot crew position to a model...no pilot file just made it so it should put me next to the structure. I made the ultimate root object have obProto CAircraft and obClass 'bomber properties. There is only 2 properties in the ultimate root object and then the next object down on the list is the model that contain the Crew postion property for the pilot and his viewpoint property...Now why can't I get this thing to work it just CTD before it even gets to the game. Does this have something to do with the loadout.ppf file? Or naaaa. HELP!!!

FarmerJoe - when you solved this nice little problem - could you add some dugouts etc. to i.e. the airfields, so when I come in, attacking them, I will get some nasty riffle fire back ?? And maybe some of them start to scream loud something ? This would be too cool !

I don't know how to solve this prob or what is wrong. I would try to take any (good and stable working ac) and just remove all unnecessary parts like engines and wings etc. just keeping the crew positions...

don't take this the wrong way.. but it sounds all messed up to me.. I could take a look at it if you like, if so, just mail it over, if I fix it I'll let you know what was wrong.

Gentlemen, I have found out that the crew position is correct and it was a problem with some dofs I had on the object. So I deleted the dofs and now it works just fine...I need to redo all the dof work to it though =) No problem there though. I am planning on adding some pill boxes Lakia =) Plus much more! I would love to get hold of some pictures of trucks and control towers from WW1 so that I could make the objects look as if they were from WW1 and remove all the radar towers from the map etc. I am unable to test my creations on my own computer because it won't run SDOE =( So I have to send them to Crossbow Archer and he tests them out. Right now the problem we are having is that the object just falls straight to hell! I have the ultimate root object set as CAircraft and obClass 'bomber so that it can have multiple crew positions. So with it being an aircraft now...I need to find a way to "tag" it to the ground and keep it from moving. Or is it possible to have the ultimate root object a regular CGameObject and then a child of it is CAircraft? Or will it still just fall threw the earth? I need to look at the akagi's layout I believe that Dole was having this problem when he first got started on it. Can't remember though. Thanks!

silly question I know, but with it being a plane, have you given it body points?

It sounds like it just needs something to tell the sim where it touches

but it doesn't need to be an aircraft to have multiple positions, or else I'd have major problems with the ships.. I think there shouldn't be any reason you couldn't just make the crewtype obs (observer) and put as maney in there as you like

Nat: Okay man I didn't ever mess with crew positions and stuff that much I usually took the lazy around messing around with stuff by copying and pasting. Okay lets say a parent object is obclass 'hangar can a subobject of that have a obProto CCrewPos property and it will still work in the game? If that can be answered my main problem is solved...The fact that the structure "was" set to CAircraft made it keep falling threw the terrain. I know from experience with obBodyPts that if I added them to it that it would just bounce uppppp and downnnnn upppp and...okay you get the idea. So now with this information that yall give me should determine wether or not I can continue! I can't test it out in SDOE because SDOE won't run on this box...I have to do everything in theory that is why I am askin such simple stuff usually because I can't find out for myself.
