I was goofing around with a new model tonight so I got the latest plugins for AC3D, 1.3b of OPS, and Hippies new tools. I tried to import a lod into OPS and it came out looking like swiss chess - triangular holes all over. I can't get it to import vrml 2 files (apparently they aren't 97 compatible). I don't really have any OBJ export modelers (maybe AM). I was going to take this down time and do a plane for once, well just to the point where in needs skinned, I still can't do that yet.

welcome to the group. That was fixed by a new patch, have no idea where to get it, do a search for swiss cheese (those are the exact words I used to describe it )

The file was called LODFIX, but for me is was LODNOTFIXED!

Still got the same problem, and when I posted it , no-one was really sure why. Followed the advice from Hippie, and now don't import LOD files into OPS at all.

I use OL7.

SMD breaks the thing down and I import the whole shooting match (.ol) into AC3D. Swap LOD files around and then export a new OL file. This compiles into a new SM file, and OPS is then the tool for fiddling with everything else. No more swiss cheese.....

unless you like the taste....

I guess that is where the two monitors come into play . Thanks for the suggestions.

That new lodfix plugin worked fine for me. I knocked out roughings of the wings today. Tomorrow the tail planes. The next day I'll do the flaps, the next the airlerons for the wings, maybe the tails. The fun stuff starts when I hit the outside cockpit and engine nacels. At least I only have to do two since they are in pairs.
