Guys, I've been talking to Charmster alot recently, and after banging our heads together we've realised how to place a working airstrip on Midway.. I do have to say he started the idea, was something I hadn't thought of till he proded in that direction.. then it was like "all becomes clear"

So what I need to know right now is how do I, or can I copy Groups from one SM to another?? And how do I add a file reference to another SM file?

Thanks guys.. and big thanks to Charmster

Nat - good to know that things are running...

Copy groups ? Hmmm - I did not tested it, or I can't remember that I did, but I do know that groups are pain in the axx ! To get sure not to crash everything I would do this with hippies OL tools ! And don't ask me for the exact way..

update on the project as a whole:-

Midway is now a stand alone terrain and fully textured

Diego is about to send me his full scale texture (I've only had a low detail one to work on the model). Once I have this, I shall upload both textures and the current SM file to my site for release as a beta terrain for play testing and to keep you guys off my back

As I said above, we've worked out how to place a working AI airfield on the terrain where I want it, but what I need is someone that can add the file reference to the airfield SM, and also add a group for me, the Sm file of a terrain starts with a group, and so far I've only been able to add a group "within" the first group, but it needs to be seperat and below the first.

hhmmm... what else... I need to mess with a couple of islands, and it'd help if when I have them done, someone could change the material value of the island polys (not the whole tile) back to land for me.

Anyway, I've got alot done today, and it wont be long before this terrain is done, then we'll put pen to paper, and get it all written up, I'd like to see more terrain being built, a full Pac Pack would be cool, but I'd like someone else to do the next one.. lol (I'll help and advise all I can though)

Ah, there's something I forgot.. have to sort out the bits for mission editor.. it only shows a red screen at the moment in editor.

Good job getting it working Nat. It is cool to know that we will soon be playing with a totally new standalone terrain. I don't know how to do groups either except by manually editing the file using hippie's tools. It looks like you are going to be doing some more exploratory research :-)

Man, things are starting to get sweeeeet in the SDOE world.
