Okay when you are billboarding an object does the DOF get billboarded with it or does that stay the same you way you put it in OPS? Or does it stay fixed with the viewer in a certain position? Will billboardin raise some hell with SDOE if the model bein billboarded has a DOF on it? Thanks!

from what I know of billboarding, there's just no point it putting it on a LOD that has a DOF, a billboard always faces you when you see it, so I don't see what function a DOF would serve.. as for it causing problems.. could well do.. but I dunno for certain

It depends on what you billboard.

If you billboard a polygon, only the poly is billboarded.

If you billboard an object, which in turn has a DOF or has an object which has a DOF, they should all get billboarded.
