YEEEEHAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

I've cracked the problem with the terrain!!!! All the textures are now being put right and I've found out why I had the problem in the first place!!

Explination: As I said before, I exported tile 399 (last tile number on africa terrain) because this is a flat ocean tile, then I imported it over all the other tiles so that they are all flat, then ran my batch prog to alter everything to water. Problem was, all the textures were then 90 degrees off and inverted, and I just couldn't work out what had happend... well, I was looking at the terrain in OPS now that I know F5 gives you a top view looking down, and that I could also load the super textures onto the terrain, meaning I can now see the full terrain in OPS as per this picture...

Now... Look closely and what do you see... you can't see it.. took me a while aswell, and I only noticed it when I loaded Dover terrain... the terrain as you see it in OPS is 28*28 tiles!!! But we know it should only be 20*20 tile right.. well, this is what happens.. if you look at the terrain in OPS, you'll notice that some of the tiles have multiple entries... 399 included.. well, what happens is that the outer 4 rows of tiles are mirrors of the inner 4 tiles! I exported a tile that is designed to have the texture map mirrored on it (thats why when at the edge of the map it looks like it carries on), so when I import it back into OPS, all the textures get messed up! All I've had to do now is copy a flat tile from the centre area of the terrain, and paste it over the centre 20*20 set of tiles and there you go!! All the textures look right now! Damn am I chuffed!!! This damn piece o' crap has bugged me so damn long and has been the one reason that I've not been able to finish that damn thing, now I can move along and get it done!! (lot of damns there huh.. lol)

Diego ma Brother, send me your texture map!! When I release the terrain, there will be 2 texture map options, I altered one slightly myself now that I have enough RAm to put on the effects I needed, and I kinda like it, so I'll release both textures and you can have which ever you prefer, or both if you want and you can switch them when and as you like.

Break out the Champange Guys, SDOE just got better!

SDOP is on it's way

SDOP is a presentaion of Diego and Nat

PARTY TIME!!

Hey Snick, now we've almost completed work on Midway, anything is possible.. Still bugs me about placing airfields though, could really use someone "in the know" for that

Couldn't you just vary the position of the "islands" so that they correspond to the positions of EXISTING airfields? Just "flood" the fields you don't want, and put islands "under" the ones you do want.

Seems more important to me to have airfields on islands than it does to have an island that matches the real geography.

Hehe probably I just don't understand how it works tho...

you're right though Jedi, we could leave Taruhna a/f base there, and design the island to fit it, and if everything else fails thats probably what we'll have to do.. But I do think that MH has some useful info on this hidden away someplace... Micheal?

Fantastic! I'll zip up the texture right away. Once this community figures out the a/f placement we can pump them out like Krispy Kream donuts!

my thoughts are the the guys out there that build aircraft can help out here, see, it appears to me from looking at the SM in OPS, a group needs to be created, and a ref to the airfield SM added, since I've not done this I'm flyin in heavy cloud cover with no HUD.. just kinda fumbling along.. lol

Well see how I go, but help is always appreciated

Congrats Nat! That's great. Btw, I did see Jaguar on ICQ briefly today but was too busy at the time to mention any of this. Next time I see him I'll point him to this thread.

How big is Hawaii in miles? A Pearl Harbor map would be pimp. I would also like to see Berlin put into a map =) Not just some little town either I would love to see that wonderful city well a big portion of it on a map! Big dogfight over a city would be tight indeed! Great Job you've done here Nat
