Look guys, I've gone back to Midway.. Diego and I did a good job on this as far as we could take it I think, but to be blunt, sorting out the SM is my job, and I can't do it.

I have a flat terrain that is completely water (although I'm going to add Midway island as land) and the whole terrain is textured. I don't have an AI usable airstrip since I don't know how to place it where I want it, and I guess no one knows this yet.

Thing is, the way I flatten the terain is to export the LOD of a water tile, which is ofcourse flat, and then import it over all the other tiles in the terrain, thereby flattening them all. I could ofcourse just import it over the land tiles, but hey, I couldn't be bothered working out the terrain numbers to import over.

OK, this is what seems to be happening when I do that.. I get a fully flat terrain, with what seems to be the correct texture map, but the tile or map is rotated, therefore showing all the tile lines because the textures don't line up any more. I have no idea whatsoever as to why this happens since I don't alter the exported tile in any way, I also don't know of an easy way to get the tile textures the right way round again.

I would like all the help anyone is willing to give so that we can get this damn terrain finished and released, giving us the first completely new terrain, a Pacific Terrain!

I have names in my head that I think could help out alot, but I'd rather people volunteer than me asking, I know about everyones work loads.. I'm going to upload the texture and sm file to my site, so that if anyone wants to team up for this, I can give you a url to download what I have so far.

Make no mistake, I'm proud of the work I do, even if it isn't on the same level as you guys that can build these aircraft, I've said often I couldn't do that, but still, I don't like admiting I'm out of ideas and stuck, I wouldn't ask if I had any ideas on what to do, but I don't, so lets be honest, if you guys want a new terrain then I need your help to do it, any one one that can bring something to this project is more than welcome to help.

Applications being taken now

Nat, is the SuperTiff I sent you the half sized tiff? Would you like the full sized version; it might have crisper detail.

Hey Diego, no need right now I don't think, atleast not unitl the SM fixed up right, it'll be easy enough to put the right tif to it after it's fixed up and working, but for the time being, if anyone actually decides they want this terrian then it's a smaller download for them to help out with

here are a couple of pics that illustrate the problem, I believe from looking at these (especially the one showing Midway atol) that the texture has been rotated by 90 degrees and inverted (left should be right etc)
