We can have drop tanks and all kinds of other possibilities. DOFs that break with a keypress, onDetach and then an onDetach proplist... just look at the Mistel for an example.

As far as the drop tanks go, they could be defined in the loadout. I'm still thinking about ways to implement a boost.

Yes we can have drop tanks. However my Mistel was not the first to use breaking DOFs. I stole that idea from the P-47D canopy. I do believe there is a property in OPS for the type of tank called 'Drop

We could also have landing gear that ripps off and rocket boosters that eject. We could have ejectable engines, nose cones (for the Natter) and we could beable to release a glider from a towplane. I'll type more as soon as I come up with more ideas.

Laika, its rather simple really. Make an object a child of the plane. On that object just have an 'onChildDetach then an obExec. On that object create a child that has an airfoil with VERY little drag that wont affect the plane any. Then add to that child two DOFs. The first must be a rotate that has a low spring and a low break. Then make another DOF that translates. This will lower the child object with the airfoil into the airflow thus causing it to break off.

Now back to the object with a onChildDetach... When the child object with the airflow breaks off, have an obExec that calls a fuction of what ever object it is that you want to detach (an engine, a gas tank...) that tells the object to detach. (Example: obFunc-dropDeach-obDetach) They are in descending order Im sure you know that. If you need an example look at my Mistel. It has a VERY simple version of a breaking DOF. The P-47ds breaking DOF is a little more complicated but the same idea.

Yes, but how do you change the current fuel tank in use? I don't believe this is implemented currently. I also don't know if it is possible to implement either.
