My SDOE hangs after about 3 minutes of flying every time for each of my 3 installs. I am using the latest beta drivers. Someone suggested I roll back to 1.04.00 - I tried that and no I am in hell.First the install crashed. Then I rebooted and I get a strange DOS window message during starup that says something like "or directoy is empty" and is followed by a C: prompt. This goes away pretty quick and then the screen turns fuzzy grey. If I boot again I get the same DOS message but it lets me in! But I am in 640x480 with 16 color with little options for better. I DO indeed have my monitor installed so it is not that. My system tells me it using the correct friver in bith the display properties window and device manager. I tried installing from my shipping CD as well as from the internet, both give me this same result. Another odd thing: Now a windoe ALWAYS pops up after just after I boot, it is a 3dfx window with the 3dfx tools folder in it. Sounds like the first failed install really screwed my machine? Any ideas? I'm dead in the water untill I fix this Thanks for any help or any hints ------------------ -Sv =FC= WWI in SDOE!

Ok first remove ALL the drivers... by hand if you have to. Remove all refrences to V3 in your system regestry. Take out the V3 and put in an old junk graphics card if you have one laying around. Start up in Safe mode and delete everything related to V3 in your System menu under Control Panel. Turn off your computer and put back in your V3. Start it up and install the drivers that came with the cd. If that all works then you are there. Go on-line and download the latest CERTIFIED drivers... not the beta ones. If that doesnt work back up everything some where (I keep an extra hardrive on my computer) and reformat your main system drive.IP: Logged |

Have you checked the heat level on the card?I also have a V3 and I've had to add a lot of extra cooling in my computer case to keep it from causing lockup from overheating. IP: Logged |

Heat could be the prob. I just keep the casing open, and the comp is beside the air-con. Delete ALL copies of vga.drv, search and delete this file. This solved the prob for me.------------------ also known as:ArmyPuke Munitions Specialist IP: Logged |

I can play all the other 3d games all I want, it is just SDOE. Also when I first installed the card it worked fine... it was only after I upgraded to the newer beta drivers. I did have a hell of a time installing it the first time though... I had to install in safe mode and restart, tap my hat twice, and blink thrice. I also re-installed DirectX just in case before... whew.ArgonV, I will try that, thanks all! I may end up rebuilding my system, but I am always prepared for that -Sv IP: Logged |

I have been to hell and back I just re-built my system from scratch and still could not get my bloody Voodoo3 card to work! Finaly after many many hours of trying I got it to work... only by downloading and installing the latest beta voodoo3 drivers. These apear to have been released this month too. Now let's see if I can fly SDOE for more than 3 minutes! -Sv IP: Logged |

I just got a Voodoo3 3000 and no problems with it. I am using the drivers from the CD. My computer case is off because of all the heat my drives and cards generate. I have 5 drives, 5 PCI cards, 1 ISA card, 1 AGP card.IP: Logged |

I fear my Voodoo3 problems might be due to my "white box" Asus athlon mother board. I got it for the over-clocking, but I regret it now... It seems to dislike PCI video cards...-Sv IP: Logged |

Zur,No separate power supply. I also have 2 monitors connected, one on the PCI Banshee and one on the AGP Voodoo3. IP: Logged |
